Art Through Touch: Ballet
Type
Mixed Media
Date
December 2024
This photography series is part of my artistic project, Art Through Touch, which explores
various art forms through the lens of human emotion, movement, and interaction. The first
chapter is dedicated to ballet as a metaphor for continuity and the transmission of experience
from one generation to the next.
At the heart of the series is a touching story about a little girl discovering the world of ballet
for the first time and an adult ballerina symbolizing mastery, grace, and mentorship. Through
the interplay of light and shadow, blurring, and layering, I convey the intimacy of the
moment, the fragility of movement, and the sensuality of dance.
The photographs are built around the dialogue between student and mentor, child and adult,
past and future. Key elements—reflections, windows, and doorways—serve as visual
metaphors for transitions, new opportunities, and personal growth. The final frame, showing
the feet of an adult ballerina in pointe shoes standing at the threshold, symbolizes the
beginning of a new chapter.
